At Skovgaard Energy, we unlock potential. This applies not only to the environment and climate but also to social conditions and our behavior as a company. That is why we say we unlock potential in the green transition, in local communities, and within each employee.
The same goes for our core areas, which include Power-to-X, biogas, wind and solar, climate parks, as well as synergies and relationships. The latter because we believe that development is created by people – employees and partners.
Strong collaboration gives us the decisiveness and speed we strive to achieve for ourselves and for the world around us. That is why the way we work together, both internally and with our partners, is one of our most important core areas. At Skovgaard Energy, we do not just produce or refine energy, but we also create unique partnerships from planning to execution as we connect different sectors and industries. Here, we build relationships with partners and other businesses, as well as municipalities, neighbors, and NGOs, all of which are crucial for a greener future. Sector coupling creates the future we dream of, because it is within these synergies that our other core areas make a decisive difference.
Wind, solar, and biogas are resources, while Power-to-X is the value creation. This is where, with the ingredients (wind, solar, and biogas) and our capabilities, we can unlock potential. With Power-to-X, we can help balance the power grid so that in the future it becomes 100% green and 100% stable, while also innovatively creating the green fuels of tomorrow. In Ramme near Lemvig, we are demonstrating the world’s first dynamic Power-to-Ammonia plant. Here, green electricity is converted into ammonia (X), giving us a glimpse into one of the energy.
In Denmark, the green energy journey began with wind, and at Skovgaard Energy we have been part of it since the very beginning. With courage, decisiveness, and speed, we have installed turbines and today produce green power in Northern Europe. But in Denmark – and especially Northwest Jutland – wind and solar complement each other when it comes to energy. That is why it made, and still makes, sense to add solar energy to our resources. Our first solar park is already installed, and the many lessons we gained along the way benefit us and Denmark as we deploy more facilities in the future. We call our hybrid energy facilities Climate Parks, which deliver on multiple bottom lines and produce electricity for the grid and for our PtA facility.
In 2023, Maabjerg Biogas became part of Skovgaard Energy when we purchased the plant together with a group of local farmers in a unique ownership model that made the farmers both suppliers and shareholders. At Skovgaard Energy, we believe that agriculture is part of the critical energy infrastructure of the future by wisely converting biomass into green energy. We also aim to further develop the use of biogenic CO₂ as a building block for the green fuels of tomorrow.
The production of green electricity cannot stand alone if we want to raise awareness of and improve our climate. Skovgaard Energy aims to create the right conditions for local communities, nature, and future generations – together – and we achieve that with our Climate Parks. Our Climate Parks are multifunctional areas that serve many purposes and create a sustainable balance between energy, space for everyday life, and natural value. Here, we produce green electricity from wind turbines and solar panels, which can be used for Power-to-X production and help create green jobs and sustainable growth locally as well as regionally. Climate Parks contribute to the development of local communities by supporting village plans and improving access to the landscape. They focus on increased biodiversity through improved water environments and wildlife and plant life, nature restoration, new natural areas, and forest planting. Climate Parks also support the sustainable transition of existing businesses and agriculture, as well as circular business development. In the same way that we use green electricity from the Climate Parks in the Power-to-X industry, residual streams from the Power-to-X industry lay the foundation for new businesses.
