At Maabjerg Biogas, green energy is produced in collaboration with local farmers – and it plays a central role in the production of the green fuels of the future.

Biogas is green energy produced by converting biomass – typically livestock manure and other organic waste – into methane through a biological process.
At Skovgaard Energy, we see biogas as an essential part of the future energy infrastructure, where agriculture becomes an energy producer. In addition to delivering green energy, biogas plants also emit biogenic CO₂, which can be used in Power-to-X technology to produce the climate-friendly fuels of tomorrow.

In 2023, Maabjerg Biogas became part of Skovgaard Energy when we acquired the plant together with a group of local farmers through a unique ownership model that made the farmers both suppliers and shareholders.
Maabjerg Biogas plays a central role in the North Sky project as a supplier of biogas and biogenic CO₂, which are key components in the production of sustainable aviation fuel. The biogas from Maabjerg is combined with green hydrogen from Energy Hub Holstebro and electricity from Climate Park Northwest Jutland to create the green fuel of the future.
